Rabbi Richard G. Lampert
I have had many people ask me if it is possible to learn Hebrew online. My answer is always, it depends on what you want. If you want to learn Hebrew online for learning grammar and vocabulary, I would say yes, with a quality program, it would work beautifully. If you want to learn Hebrew online to learn how to read, then most definitely. With a variety of quality texts, an explanation of syllable breakups, audio opportunities, printable downloads and videos, it is possible, with dedication, to learn Hebrew online.
People often ask what about conversational Hebrew, my reply is the same, as long as there is a human being on the other end of the computer (ie: skype) it is a very viable option. If the fluent Hebrew speaker is able to engage with the learner at a suitable pace and level then it can work perfectly.
An obvious point that I have to make is that it is important that you have a computer, internet connection, audio capability, and if using skype, a microphone and camera to enable you to see your instructor.
Can a student learn Hebrew online as effectively as in a classroom? That is an interesting question. It depends on the personality of the student, if the student is independent, and is happy to with technology, then yes, online learning is fantastic way to learn, however, if the student needs human interaction and constant feedback, then maybe a combination of both modes of learning could suit the student.
As there are advantages in both styles of learning, online and face to face, there are also disadvantages. For example, the Wi-Fi may drop out, or the computer may break. On the other hand, if the student is driving to the Hebrew class, there may be inclement weather or the car may break down. It is important to look at all the options before you start to learn Hebrew online.

The Easy Learn Hebrew story began in 1986 when I became involved with Rabbi Lampert's teaching methods as a tutor in the 'Learn To Read Hebrew In One Day' course.
This course took students, who could not read a word of Hebrew at the beginning of the day, and by the end of the day they could read Hebrew, slowly, but correctly.
In 1999, I completed my Bachelor of Arts majoring in Hebrew, and, as part of my degree, spent a year in Israel studying Hebrew at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In 2008, I became the primary instructor for the 'Learn To Read Hebrew In One Day' course.
Whilst conducting these face to face courses it occurred to me that this unique classroom-based method could be transferred to an online format to make it accessible to people all around the world, and so the Easy Learn Hebrew program was born!
The Easy Learn Hebrew program is the 'Learn To Read Hebrew In One Day' classroom course 'online', however offering much more in terms of being able to revise the 'classroom' content online repeatedly via the videos, take the online quizzes and being able to print out the associated hard copy learning materials as required.
I am very excited to make this program available and look forward to welcoming you as an online Easy Learn Hebrew student.
