Rabbi Richard G. Lampert
Hebrew4christians is an interesting way of writing Hebrew for Christians, but in the 21st century it is quite acceptable, so for the purpose of this article, I will continue to use Hebrew4christians.
I have often wondered why Hebrew4Christians is so important to the Christian community. My research shows that there are a number of reasons why it Hebrew is so prevalent in Christian life. Hebrew4Christians is not just the language; it is also the insight into an ancient culture and mindset.
Firstly, Jesus, who the Christians refer to as God, spoke and read Hebrew, and is the foundation of the Christian bible, and all the original authors of the Christian bible (also known as the New Testament) were Hebrew speakers and were Jewish. So, if you were to study Hebrew, it would give you new insight into the New Testament, to understand the mindset of the day and start to grasp the Hebrew expressions that are found in the bible.
Furthermore Hebrew4Christians is important because it is the language of the Synagogue and the langue of Jewish literature. It gives a Christian, who is interested, far deeper understanding into the Jewish history and struggles of the Jewish people over the centuries, and also deeper insight into prayer, which has been an integral part of Judaism for over 2000 years.
Not only is Hebrew part of the liturgy, literature and bible, it is also the language of modern Israel. So much of Christianity’s history is based in Israel, so when a Christian visits Israel, he or she will have the opportunity to speak in Hebrew, the language of modern-day Israelis. So much of the culture is tied up in the language, that it is a vital part of understanding the Israeli mindset and culture.
The Easy Learn Hebrew story began in 1986 when I became involved with Rabbi Lampert's teaching methods as a tutor in the 'Learn To Read Hebrew In One Day' course.
This course took students, who could not read a word of Hebrew at the beginning of the day, and by the end of the day they could read Hebrew, slowly, but correctly.
In 1999, I completed my Bachelor of Arts majoring in Hebrew, and, as part of my degree, spent a year in Israel studying Hebrew at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In 2008, I became the primary instructor for the 'Learn To Read Hebrew In One Day' course.
Whilst conducting these face to face courses it occurred to me that this unique classroom-based method could be transferred to an online format to make it accessible to people all around the world, and so the Easy Learn Hebrew program was born!
The Easy Learn Hebrew program is the 'Learn To Read Hebrew In One Day' classroom course 'online', however offering much more in terms of being able to revise the 'classroom' content online repeatedly via the videos, take the online quizzes and being able to print out the associated hard copy learning materials as required.
I am very excited to make this program available and look forward to welcoming you as an online Easy Learn Hebrew student.
