Learn To Read Hebrew 1

My Hebrew reading journey started approximately 45 years ago.

My father is a rabbi, so one of the first phrases I must have heard would have been in Hebrew. He must have been reading Hebrew from a prayer book, as I was born on Sukkot (a Jewish festival), and Jewish people definitely read Hebrew during this festival.

I think I should say a little bit about Sukkot; it’s origins are approximately 3000 years old; when the Israelites were in the desert they had to live somewhere, so they lived in a hut; the Hebrew word for this hut is “Sukkah”; and the plural in Hebrew is Sukkot.

If you are interested in reading about this, the information is in the Torah; which is written in Hebrew; therefore if you want to learn to read about it in the original text, you should learn to read Hebrew.
